BARBARA ANN WILLIAMS SASSER

NASHVILLE -- Barbara Ann Williams Sasser, 74, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2011, at Wake Med in Raleigh after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born April 30, 1937, in Wayne County. Barbara was the daughter of the late Frank and Vivian Carr Williams.
She loved her grandchildren and serving the people of Nash County.
Barbara worked in the Nash County register of deeds office since 1974, and served as Nash County register since 1992.
She was a charter member of Nashville Pilot Club and a member of Rock Creek Baptist Church.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 55 years, Thomas R. Sasser Sr.; two sons, Thomas R. Sasser Jr. and wife, Libbe, and Tim Sasser and wife, Michelle; three daughters, Libby Baker and husband, Howard, Debbie Batchelor and Melinda DuBose and husband, Will, all of Nashville; two sisters, Joyce Correll and husband, Dick, of Goldsboro and Frances Grant and husband, Harvey, of Holly Ridge; and nine grandchildren, Adam and Chris Baker, Stephanie Richmond and husband, Ricky, Curtis "Scooter" W. Batchelor, Tripp and Tyler DuBose, Hannah, Claxton and Thomas R. Sasser III.
Funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, at Fellowship Church in Nashville, with the Rev. Dr. Blake Dempsey and the Rev. David Pope officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service.
