FREMONT-- Walter Edmundson, 5627 NC Hwy. 111 N., died Friday with his family by his side.
Funeral services will be today at 3 p.m. at Antioch Free Will Baptist Church, 1407 Antioch Church Road, Pikeville, 27863. Committal service will follow at Wayne Memorial Park, 2925 US Hwy. 117S, Dudley, NC 28333. The Rev. Gray Stancil will officiate.
There will be a time of sharing with the family in the fellowship hall from 2 until 2:45 p.m., and other times at the residence.
Surviving is a son, Maurice "Mo" H. Edmundson (Pat) of Cary; and a daughter, Brenda Edmundson Ange (Gerald) of Wilmington; a sister Dorothy Edmundson Helser of Raleigh; grandchildren, Lisa Edmundson Spain (Steve) of Fuquay-Varina, Kyle Edmundson (Linda) of Cary, Todd Ange and Kevin Ange both of Wilmington; great-grandchildren, Anna Edmundson, Lucy Edmundson both of Cary, Karson Ange and Walter Wade Ange, both of Wilmington.
He was a native of the Edmundson Cross Road Community of Wayne County and was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Mazie Evans Edmundson; his parents, Clara McKeel Edmundson and Joe Berry Edmundson; and his siblings, Frank Edmundson, Jack Edmundson, Lila Musgrave, Lela Smith Collier, Lendora Lancaster and Frances Dawson. Mr. Edmundson was a charter member of the Antioch Fire Department and a member of Antioch Free Will Baptist Church where he had served as deacon. He was an avid hunter and was a horseshoe champion. He was a graduate of the Eureka High School Class of 1940.
