URAL WHITFIELD
March 31, 1938-July 2, 2011
Saturday, July 2, 2011, Ural "Jigga Boo" Whitfield departed this life at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Goldsboro, N.C.
He was the fifth child born to Henry and Beatrice Whitfield March 31, 1938, in Wayne County, N.C.
He attended and graduated from Carver High School.
He was married for 51 years to Alma Mickens Whitfield.
He worked and retired from O'Berry Center with 31 years of dedicated service.
He was a member at Little Rock Church of Christ in Pikeville, and attended faithfully until his health failed.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Alma Whitfield; a daughter, Wilma Thompson of the home; two sons, Carlton Whitfield of Charlotte, N.C., and Kenneth Ray Mickens of Philadelphia, Pa.; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, John Whitfield of Jamacia, N.Y.; two sisters, Lannie Pearl Whitfield of Jamacia, N.Y., and Orlean Sutton of Dudley, N.C.; two sisters-in-law, Earnestine Coley of Goldsboro, N.C., and Dalphine Mundy of Philadelphia, Pa.; four brothers-in-law, Linwood (Christine) Mickens of Philadelphia, Pa., Leroy (Doris) Mickens of Philadelphia, Pa., Carnell (Lillie) Mickens of Goldsboro, N.C., and McCarlton (Mary) Mickens of Goldsboro, N.C.; as well as a host of nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends.
A viewing will be held today from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
A service of remembrance will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Little Rock Church of Christ. Following the services in the sanctuary, Mr. Whitfield's corporeal temple, along with his adored family, will be escorted to Wayne Memorial Park for interment rites.
Prestigious service is rendered to the Whitfield family by E.M. Matthews Funeral Home.
