LORETTA ROWLAND BARNHILL

DUNN -- Loretta Rowland Barnhill, 81, 1651 Timothy Road, went to be with her Lord and savior Jesus Christ Sunday, March 20, 2011.
She was born to the late John Alexander and Annie Eulala Hardin Rowland Oct. 30, 1929, in Robeson County, N.C.
She graduated from Mingo High School, and moved to Westbrook community in 1954, when she married the love of her life, the late Sherill Anguish Barnhill.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her only son, William Lawrence Barnhill of Dunn; brothers, Durham Rowland and Lester Rowland; and sisters, Vista Rowland Pope, Iris Lee Rowland West and Annie Neal Rowland Guy.
She is survived by her daughters, Wanda Barnhill Neighbors and husband, C. H., of Goldsboro and Dorenda Barnhill Gilbert and husband, Robbie, of Timothy Road; daughters-in-law, Glenda Barnhill of Dunn and JoAnn Britt Barnhill Johnson and husband, Scott, of Plainview; grandchildren, Stephanie Barnhill Gautier and husband, Christopher, of Plainview, Leslie Barnhill Barber and husband, Jason, of Willow Spring, Eric Lawrence Barnhill and Anna Erb of Garner, Amy Nicole Neighbors of Greenville, Matthew Lee Neighbors of Goldsboro, Anthony Scott Cain of Timothy Road, Angie Lucas of Erwin, Justin Leamon and Jason Luke Gilbert of Peachtree City, Ga., Aaron Casey Gilbert and wife, Deena, of Columbus, Ga.; great-grandchildren, Bailey Austin Joyner, Michael Roland Gautier and Mason Cole Barber; brother, Daniel Rowland and wife, Alma Lee, of Wilmington; sister, Lillian Edwards of Dunn; sisters-in-law, Annie Lou Barnhill Lee of Newton Grove and Melba Rowland of Lumberton; along with a host of nieces and nephews.
She was a first-class homemaker.
In earlier years, she loved taking care of her grandchildren. She toiled many years to help provide and care for her family, doing whatever was necessary to get the job done. She never wanted to be left out of work detail.
She was an active member of Blackman's Grove Church, pianist, Sunday school teacher and missionary. She taught her family all about God and love.
She enjoyed many daily excursions with her friend, Betty Tyler, to various appointments, out to eat and shopping. Her favorite hobbies included reading her Bible and feeding the birds. She was a very special lady, who touched the lives of everyone she met by sharing the story of Jesus.
The funeral service will be Wednesday, March 23, 2011, at 3 p.m. at Blackman's Grove Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, with the Rev. Larry Turlington and the Rev. Carey Horrell officiating. Interment will be at Shady Grove Original Free Will Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, March 22, from 6 to 8 p.m.
