PIKEVILLE -- David Orson Harper, 75, 3382 Nahunta Road in Pikeville, died Saturday at his residence.
Born in Wayne County, he was the son of the late Adrian and Beatrice Amy Aycock, and was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Edwards Harper.
Mr. Harper was a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service, and also worked with the Goldsboro News-Argus.
He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Goldsboro, and was a Master Gardner in Wayne County.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Goldsboro. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.
Family members will greet friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
He is survived by his wife, Ocalla Harper; a daughter, Junette Faye Harper of Seven Springs; two sons, John David Harper of Houston, Texas, and Robert Earl Harper of Arlington, Va.; two stepsons, John W. Coston of Oakboro, N.C., and Carl Brent Coston of Hampstead, N.C.; a stepdaughter, Susan Melissa Bailey of Bailey, Colo.; a sister and beloved brother-in-law, Elva and Bob V. Parker of Garner, N.C.; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
