MOUNT OLIVE -- Catherine Sasser Lane, 82, passed away on Friday, Jan. 21, 2011, at Mount Olive Care and Rehab.
Funeral services will be held Monday evening, Jan. 24, 2011, at 7 p.m., at Thunder Swamp Pentecostal Holiness Church in Mount Olive, with the visitation beginning at 5 p.m. in the church fellowship hall. The Rev. Vance Harrell, the Rev. Jimmy Whitfield, and the Rev. Frederick Dixon will be officiating the service.
She is survived by her daughter, Beth L. Hill, and her husband, Sprunt, of Mount Olive; and a sister, Blanche Pollard of Mount Olive. Catherine is also survived by her grandson, Don Hill, of Chapel Hill. She was preceded in death by her parents; Richard J. Sasser and Sallie Lewis Sasser; her husband, Dennis Lane; and three brothers, Franklin Sasser, Joe Sasser, and Leon Sasser. Mrs. Catherine was a lifetime member of the Thunder Swamp Pentecostal Holiness Church, where she sang in the choir, served in the Women's Ministries, and with the Youth Ministries. She also served as a bookkeeper at Wayne Glass and Tire Company. She was known as "Mema" to her family and friends, and was always there to take care of her family.
Burial will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m., in the Maplewood Cemetery in Mount Olive.
