Janie Lee Porter, 74, passed away Sunday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Porter was born in Durham County to the late Mr. and Mrs. Willie Allen.
She worked for many years with Singer Sewing Co.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by her funeral service at 11 a.m. in the chapel, with the Rev. Bill Rose officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
Mrs. Porter is survived by her husband, David Lee Porter of East St. Louis, Ill.; her daughters, Wanda Wiggins of Goldsboro and Diana Allen of Rocky Mount; her grandchildren, Dana Lehman of Rocky Mount, Jimmy Turner of Louisburg, Daniel Hill of Goldsboro, Thomas Lane of Goldsboro, Christopher Lane of Goldsboro and David Porter of Goldsboro; her great-granddaughter, Autumn Porter of Goldsboro; and her sisters, Betty Smith of Toano, Va., Jean Walker of Durham, Carol Sue Geithman of Nixa, Mo., Patsy Lunceford of Dry Fork, Va., and Hazel Jones of Hampton, Va.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Sheila Lane.
