BRENDA MOORING ROLLINS

April 28, 1943-Dec. 12, 2010

Mrs. Brenda Mooring Rollins, 67, went peacefully to be with her Lord Sunday morning at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Brenda was born in Wayne County April 28, 1943, to the late James Blaney Mooring Sr. and Maybelle Jones Mooring.

She had retired as a teacher assistant with the Wayne County Public School System after 20 years of service. Prior to her employment with the school system, Brenda worked as a nurse with Dr. Talbot Parker, and maintained a lifelong respect for the nursing profession.

The loves of Brenda's life were her Lord and her family. She was a devoted member of Pleasant Hill Free Will Baptist for more than 57 years, where she faithfully served as a Sunday school teacher and youth leader, director of the junior choir, and was a member of the adult choir. Brenda also received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the ladies' auxiliary for her many years of service.

Brenda's true joy was her family, and she will be remembered as a loving wife, Moma and Grandma. She was a devoted wife, partner and best friend for 46 years to her husband, Joe. She was beloved by her children, and she especially delighted in spending time with her grandchildren.

Brenda will be remembered by her family for her infectious laugh, her love of nature, her great cooking and most importantly, her unconditional love.

A service to celebrate Brenda's life will be held Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Free Will Baptist Church, with the Rev. Sherman Dilley and the Rev. David Thick officiating. Interment will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

As mentioned, Brenda is survived by her husband, Joe Rollins; her daughters, Becky Hare and husband, Jimmy, of Goldsboro and Alison Syverson and husband, Mike, of Goldsboro; and her beloved grandchildren, Jessica Nicole Hare, Matthew James Hare and Gavin Clark Syverson. She is also survived by her brother, Kenneth Mooring of Washington; her sisters, Ruth Price of Dudley and Rose Wood of Goldsboro; and her half-sisters, Helen Reynolds of Florida and Susan Cook of New York.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Donald Mooring, and nine half-brothers and sisters.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Pleasant Hill Free Will Baptist Church, 1080 Gurley Dairy Road, Pikeville, N.C., 27863, or Mount Olive College, 646 Henderson St., Mount Olive, N.C., 28365.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 7 p.m. and following the service in the fellowship hall of Pleasant Hill Free Will Baptist Church, and other times at her home.
