MARY MAGDALENE WADE-GRIFFIN

Mrs. Mary Magdalene Wade-Griffin, 107 Devonshire Drive, was born Feb. 23, 1972, in Wayne County to Mr. Pordis Wade Sr. and the late Thelma Waters Wade.
She transitioned from earth to glory Thanksgiving evening at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
She attended Wayne County Schools, and graduated in 1990. She furthered her education after relocating to Surry County, Va., as a certified nursing assistant.
She was an anointed vocal leader for 31 years in her family group, The Wade Sisters. She conducted many musical workshops, and was known to bring out the best in most every choir she worked with. She had been a featured guest soloist in various choirs and groups. Mary loved to sing, and was a jack of all trades.
She loved making a $10 pair of curtains look like they were highly fashionable. She also loved helping people no matter what they needed her to do, sometimes without complaining, (SOMETIMES.)
She leaves to cherish her memories her son and best friend forever, master Cameron Griffin of the home; her beloved fiancé, Mr. Steven Melvin of Goldsboro, N.C.; five sisters, Mrs. Vanessa (Willie) Thomas, Ms. Patricia Gail Wade, Ms. Velma Wade and Mrs. Lisa (Andre) Wade-Reid all of Goldsboro, N.C.; Mrs. Portia (Felix) Acevedo of Dudley, N.C.; two brothers, Mr. Pordis (Michelle) Wade Jr. of Goldsboro and Mr. Christopher (Darlene) Wade of Charlotte, N.C.; a widowed sister-in-law, Mrs. Dalphine Wade (Milton) of Goldsboro, N.C.; 10 nieces; 11 nephews; and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins. She also leaves to cherish her memories her favorite musicians in the world, drummer Arnold Thornton Jr., keyboardist Andrew Truzy and baby drummer Jerome Bailey.
A visitation for Ms. Wade will be held Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Greater St. John Church in Dudley. An inspirational concert honoring Ms. Wade and her gospel group will begin at 6 p.m. Celebration of life services will continue Saturday at 1 p.m. at Branch Memorial Tabernacle. Following the triumphant proceedings in the sanctuary, Ms. Wade, along with her adored family, will be escorted to Old Mill Cemetery for farewell rites. Although Mary's family must leave her in this earthly resting place, all that knew her can have that assurance knowing that she has changed her address to 777 Hwy. 7 in the city of Heaven. There, Mary is leading songs in the master's full gospel choir praising her Savior all day long.
