CLARICE GRAHAM LEWIS
On Monday morning, Nov. 15, 2010, at Wayne Memorial Hospital, God in his divine authority called from labor to reward his servant Clarice. She was born Sept. 4, 1947. in Wayne County to Mr. James Graham Sr. and the late Julia Ward Graham. She was the sixth of nine siblings.
Her early years were spent in Mount Olive (Smith Chapel Community) where she enjoyed the blessings of love and fun in a large and close-knit family.
She attended Carver High School, Mount Olive and graduated in the class of 1965. She further enhanced her knowledge and skills by reading and her intense interest in the World Wide Web.
There comes a time for that special person in everyone's life. Clarice found that special and dedicated man in Samuel Lewis Sr. They were united in marriage and the union was blessed with one son and two daughters. Her love for them was always enduring.
Having been reared by parents who loved and honored the Lord, at a young age Clarice joined St. Luke Church of Christ Disciples of Christ, Mount Olive. She attended regularly with her family and participated in many church activities. She thoroughly enjoyed working with the kitchen and Hospitality Committees and would always ensure that appropriate amenities were extended to everyone, especially visiting guests. She also served as assistant treasurer and just months prior to her illness she was installed as a member of the Trustee Board.
Precious memories of her unwavering love and devotion will be forever cherished in the hearts of her survivors: her husband Samuel Lewis Sr., a son, Samuel (SJ) Lewis; two daughters, Tracy (Nick) Williams and Stacy Lewis; her father, Mr. James Graham Sr.; her grandchildren, BreAnna VanHook, Jalen Lewis and Chancellor Williams; five brothers James (Brenda) Graham, Eddie Lee Graham, Archie (Mable) Graham, Elder Donald (Florence) Graham and Curtis (Debra) Graham; a sister, Gracie (Vernon) Price; three uncles, five aunts, six sisters-in-law and three brothers-in-law; her godchildren, Cleveland Johnson, Albert Williams III and Robin Lofton; and a host of nieces, nephews, numerous cousins, devoted neighbors, caregivers and friends.
A viewing for Mrs. Lewis will be held today from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.. at E.M. Matthews Funeral Home. The family will be present to receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Services to celebrate the prolific life and legacy of Mrs. Lewis will be held on Thursday at 12noon at St. Mark Church of Christ, Goldsboro. Following the services in the sanctuary, Mrs. Lewis' delicate temple along with her adored family, will be escorted to Wayne Memorial Park for interment rites where she will be placed into a mausoleum. Those that loved this precious woman can only return to this earthly consign for reflective moments. However, all can find that everlasting peace just knowing that Mrs. Clarice is now in that sweet place called paradise, resting from the labors of this world.
The Lewis family is receiving services of compassion and distinguished class from E.M. Matthews Funeral Home and Cremations Inc.
