ALINE EZZELL LAVIN

GOLDSBORO -- Aline Ezzell Lavin, 75, passed away Tuesday, July 13, 2010, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center. The Lord took her by the hand and led her to the Promised Land.
Aline was born and raised in the Goldsboro area.
She married the love of her life, Jim, and traveled the world with him, making each destination a home filled with compassion and love. Each new location was an adventure that her family will cherish forever.
Her love for children was demonstrated over her life by her nurturing and caring for them everywhere she lived, including later in life when she cared for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The influence she had on their lives has molded them for a promising future.
Aline loved to crochet and cook, as well as doing and caring for others.
She was a long-standing member of New Hope United Methodist Church.
A service to remember Aline will be held in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home Thursday, July 15, 2010, at 11 a.m., with pastor Terry Hobbs officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.
Aline is survived by her daughters, Pat Bevell and husband, Gary, of Goldsboro and Cindy Benton and husband, Tommy, of Clayton; her son, John Lavin and wife, Teri, of Goldsboro; her grandchildren, Tonia Harrison, Tamara Toner and husband, Terry, Amanda Ostrander and husband, Steve, Mandee Thompson, Jami Lavin, Kenneth Turlington and Jason Turlington; her great-grandchildren, John Mason Turlington, Nicolas Lavin Toner, Abigail Toner, Olivia Toner and James Harrison Toner; her stepgrandchildren, Latashia Schwarting, Charles "C.J." Benton and wife, Holly, Lorenda Overman and husband, Harrell, Dale Bevell and wife, Laura, and Dwayne Bevell and wife, Heather; and her stepgreat-grandchildren, Ashtan Howell, Ryan Bevell, Josh Bevell, Alex T. Schwarting, Kayla Schwarting, Emma Schwarting, Charles Benton, Beth Overman, Betsy Roberson and husband, Ryan, Dave Overman, Jayden Bevell and Maddox Bevell. She is also survived by her sister, Annette Thayer; her sister-in-law, Alice Ezzell; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, John James "Jim" Lavin; her parents, George Allen Ezzell and Carrie Thompson Ezzell; her sisters, Nadine Ezzell, Bernice Ezzell Davis and Doris Graham; and her brothers, Nathaniel "Jack" Ezzell and Daniel Joseph "D.J." Ezzell.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, and other times at her home, 218 Pinewood Drive, Goldsboro.
