GLADYS J. LEWIS

Tuesday at 1:15 a.m., God called the heavenly spirit of elder Gladys Jones Lewis to receive her heavenly reward. She exchanged her earthly life for eternal life at Britthaven of Goldsboro.
A service of remembrance will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at St. Luke Church of Christ, Disciples of Christ, 430 E. Elm St., in Goldsboro, with Dr. Eugene Williams officiating. Burial will be in Old Mill Cemetery.
Elder Lewis, affectionately known by her family and friends as "Dump," was born Oct. 9, 1929, in Wayne County.
She was an associate minister at Holly Hill Church of Christ, Disciples of Christ.
She is survived by two sisters, mother Nannie J. (Burden) Best and Shirley (Archie) Daniels both of Goldsboro; nine children, deacon Ronnie "Cookie" Jones, Stephanie Lorraine Edwards, Monte "Honey Bun" Jones, Tempie Thompson, Laura B. Lewis, Winnie Fuller, James Ray (Wanda) Lewis of Goldsboro, Minnie (Jerry) Parker of St. Albans, N.Y., and Thelma (Eugene) Yelverton of Pikeville.
A viewing will be held Saturday 2 to 4:30 p.m. at Hamilton Funeral Chapel Inc., 423 S. James St. in Goldsboro.
An inspirational wake will be held at St. Luke Church of Christ, 430 E. Elm St., from 6 to 7 p.m.
At other times, the family will receive visitors and friends at the home of Stephanie Lorraine Jones Edwards at 1301 Hamilton Drive, and also assemble there Sunday in preparation for the funeral procession.
Although greatly appreciated, in lieu of flowers, the family requests that family and friends consider making donations to Attending Activities at WAGES of Royall Avenue in Goldsboro, or Holly Hill Church of Christ fellowship hall.
