CARLTON "PETE" E. WARREN
Died Jan. 23, 2010
FAISON -- Carlton "Pete" Edward Warren, 86, 7360 Pine Ridge Road, loving husband, father and grandfather, died Saturday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Faison United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Michele Clark officiating. Burial will be in Faison Cemetery.
He served the people of the Faison area for 68 years as the local barber.
Born in 1923 in Duplin County, Pete was the son of the late John Wesley Warren Sr. and Effie Lane Warren.
He was a member of Faison United Methodist Church, a veteran of the United States Army, having served in World War II, a barber and a farmer.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Florence Benton Warren; daughter, Judy Warren Collie and husband, Mike, of Carson City, Nev.; two sons, Carlton "Pete Jr." Edward Warren Jr. and wife, Linda, of Grifton and Tim Warren and wife, Kathy, of Faison; a sister, Ann W. Matthews and husband, Donald, of Faison; a brother, Kenneth "Smutt" Warren and wife, Evelyn, of Faison; grandchildren, Donald Andrews, Melissa Sutton, Allison Sauls, Steve Ginn and Jenna Warren; eight grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Carlton Edward Warren III; two sisters, Hazel Rackley and Grace Walton; and two brothers, John Warren Jr. and William "Bill" Warren.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral in the church fellowship hall and at other times, at his home.
