Thomas Alvin Harmon Jr., 82, passed away Saturday.
The funeral service was held today at 1 p.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home chapel. Interment was at Montlawn Cemetery.
He fought a courageous battle with strength and courage.
He was born April 17, 1927, in Raleigh to Thomas Alvin Harmon Sr. and Janie S. Harmon.
Tom was a loving father and grandfather.
He loved the Lord and his church family at Free Will Baptist Church in Goldsboro where he was a member.
He worked for Frito-Lay Co. for more than 30 years.
He loved the Christmas season and what a glorious time for him to go home to be with his Lord and Savior.
He is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Donna Gurley and her husband, Dennis, of Louisburg; his son, Thomas Alvin Harmon III and his wife, Dee Ann, of Atlanta, Ga.; grandchildren, Christina Poythress and her husband, Brian, Christopher Gurley, Katherine Victoria Harmon, Caroline Amanda Harmon and Alissa Leigh Harmon; sisters Naomi Cox, Ann Larsen (Ralph), Vallie Phillips (Grady) and Nancy Riddle.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Harmon; a sister; and a brother.
The family received friends Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Ave.
