GRANTHAM -- Noel Dwight Rose Jr., 48, died Tuesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Jordan Chapel Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jim Turbyfill and the Rev. Ray Smeltzer officiating. Interment will be at Wayne Memorial Park.
He was a 1979 graduate of Southern Wayne High School and received a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from East Carolina University's class of 1983.
He was also an Eagle Scout.
He was currently serving as chief probation and parole officer in Wayne County.
Noel was a member and past director of the Goldsboro Harley Owners Group. He belonged to the Sons of Confederate Veterans, Goldsboro Rifles Camp and the Mechanized Calvary. Noel was a member and past master of Mill Creek Masonic Lodge.
He was a 32nd degree Scottish Rites Mason and a member of Goldsboro Elks Lodge. Noel was a member of the Shriners, Jordans Chapel Volunteer Fire Department, the North Carolina Probation Parole Association and Jordans Chapel Baptist Church.
He was an avid fan of NASCAR racing.
He is survived by his wife, Stephanie Widener Rose; parents, Noel Dwight Rose Sr. and Patricia Jernigan Rose; and sister, Sharon Rose Britt and husband, the hon. John Milton Britt Sr., and their son, John Britt Jr.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home tonight from 6 to 8.
