KINSTON -- John Ellington Holt, 85, passed away Sunday at his home.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Pine Forest United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Linda Grider officiating.
John was born in Johnston County Oct. 21, 1924, to the late William M. Holt and Kizzie Lee Holt.
He retired from Dupont and had served his country in the United States Army during World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Davis Holt; his daughter, Joan Harper and husband, Frank, of Snow Hill; his grandsons, Justin Kennedy of Mount Olive and Trey Williams of Raleigh; his brother, Jim Holt of Princeton; and his sisters, Mildred Hadnott of Pine Level, Mary Batten of Cary and Thelma Vest of Indiana.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Holt and Banks Holt.
The family will receive friends Wednesday following the service at the graveside.
