JACK WALLACE

March 18, 1938-Oct. 18, 2009

Jack Wallace was born March 18, 1938, to the late Willie Mae Wallace and Zek Hunt of Fairmont. He entered into the realms of eternal rest Oct. 18, 2009, to be with the Lord for an everlasting life of peace and happiness.

A celebration of life service will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at Deeper Life Church Ministries of Goldsboro. He will be laid to rest at Gardens of Gethsemane Cemetery in Rocky Mount.

He received his education through Rosenwald Schools in Fairmont. He was a civil service worker of 20 years that began at Pope Air Force Base in Fayetteville. He retired at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base.

He was an entrepreneur at a very young age. He was the owner and operator of several businesses in Fairmont, Fayetteville and Goldsboro.

After his retirement from civil service, his latest business adventures in Goldsboro were J&E Mini Mart and Jack's Almost Famous Hotdogs on the corner of Elm and Slocumb streets, Ace One Stop on Slocumb Street, William Street BBQ and manger of Paradise Super Flea Market.

Jack was a people person. His most rewarding adventure was delivering medication for Wayne Pharmacy throughout the city of Goldsboro.

He was considered a "jack-of-all-trades."

He never met a stranger and had a very giving spirit. He loved to sell and give away watermelons and cantaloupes. His favorite hobby was raising farm animals. He had a real talent for making investments and turning a profit.

He leaves to cherish precious memories his wife of 26 years, Elizabeth Wallace of Goldsboro; his children, Jacqueline and Jermel Wallace of Goldsboro, Vashtina, Reggie and Michael Wallace of Fayetteville, Donald Wallace of Phoenix, Ariz., and Patricia Wallace of Irvine, Calif.; granddaughters, Janiyah Wallace and her mother, Shawnterrior Boykin, of Goldsboro and Shawnessa Wallace of Phoenix, Ariz.; and grandsons, Maurice and Tyree Wallace of Irvine, Calif.

He was preceded in death by brothers, Avery Bullock and James Wallace; mother-in-law, Inez Lancaster; sister-in-law, Lois Lancaster; sister, Gloria Troy of Newark, N.J.; three aunts, Hattie Bullock, Hazel Williams and Vinie Moore of Fairmont; one uncle, Rueben Wallace of Fairmont; father-in-law, Tommy Lancaster; brothers-in-law, Jimmie, James and Thomas Lancaster of Rocky Mount; sister-in-law, Cheryl Alston (Don) of Rocky Mount; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation for Jack Wallace will be held at E. M. Matthews Funeral Home and Cremations Inc. Thursday from 2 to 8 p.m.

His earthen vessel is peacefully resting at E.M. Matthews Funeral Home and Cremations Inc., where the Wallace Family is receiving compassionate and caring service.
