Jesse Franklin "Frank" Pittard Sr., 69, went to be with his Lord Tuesday.
A graveside service will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids. Following the graveside service, the family will receive friends.
He was married to his beloved wife of 47 years, Betty Naylor Pittard, and was the son of the late Jesse and Sara Pittard of Mount Olive.
Frank was a Vietnam veteran and he worked in the North Carolina State Probation and Parole System for 28 years before retiring in June 2001 because of health problems.
He was a Sunday School teacher for 35 years at Rosemary Baptist Church in Roanoke Rapids, and was a member of Roanoke Rapids Lions Club for 20 years.
Frank enjoyed fishing, gardening, East Carolina football, traveling and spending time with family.
He was the proud father of one son and daughter-in-law, Jesse "Jay" and Gina Pittard of Goldsboro; and one daughter and son-in-law, Christie and David Rawlings of Jarratt, Va. Grandchildren include Holly and Becka Lynn PIttard and Hunter and Dylan Rawlings.
In addition, he leaves behind a brother, Robert Pittard and wife, Rebecca, of Greensboro; a sister, Brenda P. Davis and husband, Johnny, of Mount Olive; and other relatives including beloved aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Friends will also be received at Tyndall Funeral Home in Mount Olive Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Rosewood First Baptist Church Building Fund or the National Parkinson's Association.
