Minnie Estella Hargrove Flowers, 91, of 908 Hopkins St., peacefully transitioned from labor to reward on Thursday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Her life and legacy will be celebrated Monday, Aug. 17, 2009, at St. Mark Church of Christ, Disciples of Christ, Ash St. The Bishop Alton A. Smith will officiate and provide words of comfort. Mother Flowers' earthly temple will be laid to rest at Wayne Memorial Park, Hwy. 117, Dudley.
She leaves to cherish fond memories, a daughter, Willette Flowers Smith of Danville, Va.; two sons, Donald Flowers of Goldsboro, and Wilbur Flowers of Baltimore, Md; five grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret Hargrove Daniels of Goldsboro, and Ruth Geraldine Hargove Breaux, of Houston, Texas; two brothers, Calvin Hargrove Jr. of Tarboro and William Hargrove of Goldsboro; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be today from 6 until 8 p.m. at Bear Creek Headquarters, with the family present to receive friends. All floral expressions may be delivered to Bear Creek Headquarters, 1800 S. Slocumb St., today between 4 and 6 p.m. and Monday from 9 until 10 a.m.
Mother Flowers' earthen vessel is peacefully resting at Colvin Funeral Home. Eric M. Matthews, funeral director, is providing caring and compassionate service to the family. Services are entrusted to Colvin Funeral Home of Lumberton.
