VIRGIE L. ROBERTS

Virgie Lee Roberts, 75, passed away Thursday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Adamsville Baptist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Todd Wiggins officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
Virgie was born in Gate City, Tenn., Aug. 12, 1933, to the late Anna and Avery Boyd. She was married to the late Willis Carl Roberts.
Virgie served her Lord through her work for 24 years as the church secretary for Adamsville Baptist Church. Virgie loved her Lord and Savior with an unwavering love and devotion. She accepted the Lord when she was 16 years old and lived her life for Him, as a shining example to her family.
Virgie is survived by her son, Avery Roberts of Goldsboro; her daughter, Gail Craig and husband, John, of Raleigh; her grandchildren, Brian Craig and wife, Joelle, and Laura Craig; and her sister, JoAnn Johnson of Corbin, Ky.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Shirley Mason and Earnestine Dickerson.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. at Adamsville Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be given to the American Cancer Society in Virgie's name for the purpose of alleviating the pain and suffering of other cancer patients.
