HENRY B. SMITH
April 26, 1925-June 8, 2009
SNOW HILL -- Henry B. Smith, 83, 80 Burrelfield Road, died Monday evening at Britthaven of Snow Hill.
Funeral services will be held tonight at 7 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home Chapel, with pastor Alvin Keener and pastor Richard Forsythe officiating. Graveside services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Peele Family Cemetery.
Born in Wayne County, he was the son of the late Cornelius and Bertie Jones Smith, husband of the late Beatrice Smith, great-grandfather of the late Porché Thomas and stepfather of the late Kathy Scott.
A member of Harrell's Chapel Church, he was a veteran of the United States Navy having served in World War II.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Valeria Head Smith; a son, Henry Benjamin Smith II and wife, Dori, of Fremont; two daughters, Ennette Thomas and husband, Glenn, of Goldsboro and Sonja Walker of Goldsboro; a stepson, Larry Head and wife, Sarah, of Hookerton; a stepdaughter, Loretta Cox and husband, Buck, of Snow Hill; a stepson-in- law, David Scott of Fremont; 13 grandchildren, Glenn Thomas Jr., Beth Rigdon and husband, Jeff, Ginny Person and husband, Jeff, Tyler Thomas, Billy Smith, Travis Thomas, Greg Walker, Christopher Walker, Shelly Ippolito, Vance Head, Jason Head, Lenny Cox and Leslie Stewart; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and seven stepgreat-grandchildren.
The Smith family will greet friends this evening immediately following the service at the funeral home and at other times at the home.
