DUDLEY -- Raymond Kennon "R.K." Jernigan, 82, died Saturday night at Heritage Hospital in Tarboro.
Graveside services will be private.
Mr. Jernigan's family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 7 at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home.
Born in Sampson County, he was the son of the late Raymond and Annie Lou Jordan Jernigan.
R.K. was retired from Wayne County Public Schools after 37 years as an agriculture teacher.
Mr. Jernigan is survived by his wife, Frances Jernigan; three sons; two daughters; one grandson; and one granddaughter.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in memory of R.K. Jernigan to the North Carolina Wildlife Federation, P.O. Box 10626, Raleigh, NC, 27605.
