EDNA VANDIFORD SMITH

PIKEVILLE -- Edna Vandiford Smith, 78, passed away on Thursday evening at Wayne Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be held today at 6 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with the Rev. Joe Strouse and Bill Garner officiating. Private interment will be held in the Eureka Cemetery.
Edna was born in Greene County on Nov. 2, 1930 to the late Jasper H. Vandiford and Mary Elizabeth Elmore Vandiford. She was a member of Faro Chapel Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church. Edna was a homemaker who enjoyed working in her home and caring for her family.
Edna is survived by her husband, Matthew Arnold Smith; her sons, Mike Smith and wife, Janet, of Pikeville and Billy Ray Smith of Pikeville; her sister, Thelma Lancaster of Pikeville; three grandchildren, Greg Smith and wife, Jessica, Cheri Dowdy and husband, Walt, and Tony Smith and wife, Brittany; a dear sister-in-law, Laraine Vandiford, and three great grandchildren, Ethan, Caleb and Elena Dowdy.
Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Faro Chapel P.F.W.B. Church, 3616 Big Daddy's Road, Fremont, N.C. 27830.
The family will receive friends following the service at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the home at 217 Bartlett Road NE, Pikeville, N.C.
