MARTHA HELLON GASKINS BASS

Martha Hellon Gaskins Bass, 82, went home to her Father in Heaven on Tuesday.
She was highly independent, hard-working, strong-willed and a deeply-loved woman. Hellon will be sincerely missed for her feisty nature, her listening ear, compassion for others, her unconditional love for her children and her ageless wisdom and wit.
Hellon is survived by her children, Sandra Hall and husband, Ed, of Florida, James "Buddy" Bass and wife, Sharon, of Florida, Danny "Kim" Bass and wife, Crystal, of Alabama, Gordon "Smokey" Bass of Goldsboro and Shirley Justice and husband, Terry, of Goldsboro; 18 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; three sisters-in-law, Margie West, Virginia Potter and Sylvia Bass; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Jerry Steve and Roy David.
Funeral services will be held this evening at 6 p.m. at the chapel of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory with visitation afterward. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Princeton Cemetery in Princeton.
A special thank you goes to 3HC Hospice for the care given to our mother, Hellon Bass and to our brother, Gordon "Smokey" Bass for the past 22 years.
