Helen Grace Brown Hegler, 79, of 804 Paul St., went to be with the Lord on Wednesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Born in Sampson County, she was the daughter of the late William Ivey and Mabel Barefoot Brown. She was joined in marriage in 1955 to Theodore Banks Hegler and was a member of Northview Baptist Church where she sang in the church choir.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home with the Rev. Frank Purvis and the Rev. Gordon Flanagan officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.
She is survived by her husband, Ted Hegler; two daughters and sons-in-law, Ivy and Melvin Lewis of Pikeville, Rose and Bruce Krieger of Goldsboro; six grandchildren, William Barnes, Aaron Barnes, Stephanie Spencer, Reed Spencer, Candace Krieger Gibbons and Alex Krieger; and three great-grandchildren; and special friends, Catherine Lane, Brigitta Seymour and Perry and Norma Jordan.
Family members will greet friends Friday one hour prior to the funeral service at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home and at other times will be at the home.
