LaGRANGE -- Jennie Lee Herring, 80, of LaGrange, died Friday March 13, 2009 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
A service of remembrance will be held today, March 15, 2009 at 4 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Brown officiating. Interment will be Monday at 11 a.m. from Snow Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Herring was born March 18, 1928 in Halifax County, Va. to the late Winfield and Minnie Daniel. A strong believer in family, she enjoyed being surrounded by her family and taking care of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking for her family and was well known for her biscuits and sweet potato pie.
Mrs. Herring is survived by six children, Sara Waller of LaGrange, Tom Foster and wife, Carolyn, of LaGrange, Minnie Heath and husband, Parrott, of Snow Hill, Carl Foster and wife, Martha, of LaGrange, Melanie Hardison and special family friend, Roger Tripp of LaGrange, James Herring Jr. and wife, Deborah, of Kinston; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends following the service and at other times they will be at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Foster, 3178 Jenny Lind Road, LaGrange.
