WILLIS A. KENNEDY

March 20, 1919-March 9, 2009

Willis Albert Kennedy, 89, a resident of the Sterling House, passed away on Monday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held in Chelsea, Okla.

Mr. Kennedy was born in Celeste, Texas, on March 20, 1919, to the late Willis Eugene Kennedy and Ethel Saunders Kennedy. He was married to the late Marie Mack Kennedy and the late Irene Kennedy. Mr. Kennedy was a retired city zoning inspector with the City of Lubbock, Texas. He served his country in the United States Air Force and flew a C-46 during World War II in Burma, where he flew the hump. Mr. Kennedy retired with 28 years of service in the United States Air Force.

Mr. Kennedy is survived by his children, Gale Copeland of San Martin, Calif., Raymond Kennedy of New Orleans, La., and Patrick Kennedy and wife, Beverly, of Goldsboro; his grandchildren, Tanya Newberry and husband, Douglas, Kimberly Kennedy, Christy Cone, Shannon Cone, Justin Kennedy, Travis Kennedy, and Taylor Kennedy; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Kennedy.

Local arrangements are being handled by Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Goldsboro.
