MOUNT OLIVE -- Louise Carter Bullock, 96, of the Rones Chapel Community, died Thursday in Carrboro at the home of a daughter.
Funeral services will be held today at 3 p.m. at the Chapel of Tyndall Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve McElroy and the Rev. Richard Hill officiating. Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery.
Visitation will be today at the funeral home during the hour preceding the service.
Mrs. Bullock was a member of Rones Chapel United Methodist Church. As a nurse and nursing instructor for many years, her early working career included being the team nurse for the New York Giants. She was a graduate of the New Jersey State School of Nursing, and she was instrumental in the chartering of the School of Mediciate at East Carolina University in the 1960s.
She is survived by her children, Marsha Bullock Marsh of Carrboro, Charles Neil Bullock of Mount Olive, and Susan Abbott Greenhill of Warsaw; two grandsons, Charles Richard Greenhill and David Edward Greenhill; and two great-grandchildren, Kara Vivian Greenhill McWatty and Zachary Richard Greenhill.
Those family members preceding her in death include her husband, Charles Brantley "C.B." Bullock; her parents, Owen Calvin Carter and Octavia Murvin Carter; two brothers, Jarvis Carter and Henry A. Carter; and two sisters, Patricia C. Tarkenton, and Ruby C. Kornegay.
