Mattie Merritt Ginn, formerly of Birch Drive, went to be with her Lord Wednesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital with her family by her side.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 7 p.m. at Fort Run Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, 6756 Highway 13 South, Snow Hill (Shine Cross Roads), with the Rev. Larry Turlington officiating. Interment will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Lemuel Hill Cemetery, 4648 Highway 13 South, Snow Hill, with the Rev. Ralph Ginn officiating.

Ms. Ginn will lay in repose in the church sanctuary Friday, March 6, 2009, from 5 to 7 p.m. The family will receive friends following the funeral.

Surviving are her sons, Kenneth Earl Ginn of Kinston and William Stanley Ginn (Lisa) of Goldsboro; grandchildren, Keith Ginn of Ohio, Alan Ginn (Tina) of LaGrange, Joel Ginn of New York, N.Y., and Christopher Ginn and Ellen Ginn of Goldsboro; great-grandchildren, Rochelle Ginn, David Ginn, Brian Ginn, Kayla Ginn and Justin Ginn; a sister, Maggie M. Newsome of Goldsboro; and a number of special nieces and nephews.

Ms. Ginn was a native of Wayne County and the wife of the late William S. Ginn and the daughter of the late Ella Blackwell Merritt and Alonzo Merritt.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Ella Blalock, Lena Rivenbark, Annabelle Boyette, Emma Gregory, Jessie Merritt, Christine Hamm, Johnny Merritt and Sam Merritt.

She was an active member of Fort Run Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church and the Ladies Auxiliary until her illness. She was a paper carrier for the News-Argus for 25 years and then she worked in the circulation department for 17 years.

Flowers are welcome at the church, 6756 Highway 13 South, Snow Hill.

Family and friends are welcome at the home of Stanley and Lisa Ginn, 400 Birch Drive, Goldsboro.
