Died Feb. 27, 2009

On Feb. 27, 2009, at the age of 72, surrounded by her loving family, Rose Catherine Govan peacefully left her home on earth and went to be with her Lord and Savior and reunited with her beloved husband Col. Robert A. Govan.

A funeral mass was held Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Michaels Archangel Church, 804 High House Road, Cary. Family received friends Sunday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Wynne Funeral Home, 200 S.E. Maynard Road, Cary. Following the visitation, a prayer vigil took place.

Born in Fulton County in Atlanta, Ga., Rose was devoted mother, grandmother and friend. Rose was a person who touched so many peoples' lives.

She had a unique gift to make you feel good in every conversation. Rose loved art, enjoyed traveling and going to the beach.

She was a member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Apex.

She was a member of the Red Hat Society, a Wake Inter-Faith volunteer, and a member of St. Michael small Christian community.

She was a graduate of American University and a member of Kappa Alpha Beta sorority.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Col. Robert A. Govan; her father, George Turner; mother Mary Turner; and brother Paul Turner.

Rose is survived by brother, David Turner; six children; 17 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Her survivors include, daughter, Debra and Steve Nagy with children, Lauren, Lindsay and Corey, daughter, Merry and Mike Wunderlich, with children, Bryan and Amanda Sutton and great-grandchild, Kenton; son, Robert and Liza Govan with children, Blake, Paige, and R.J.; daughter Jeni, and Glen Michie with children, Joanna, Allie, Scott, and Brian; daughter, Liz and Greg Callis with children, Bob and Kaytea; and daughter, Mindy Govan and Kelly Jackson with children, Nikolas, Catherine, and Logan.

She is also survived by her long time friends, father Jim Balint, Pat Lawrence, and Mary Ellen and Carl Anderson.
