RACHEL S. BRASWELL

Rachel Sutton Braswell, 82, went to be with her Lord on Monday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by her family.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Olsen and the Rev. Dwayne Batten officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

Rachel was born in Wayne County on Sept. 13, 1926, to the late Bernice L. Sutton and Minnie McClenny Sutton. She was married to the late Claude O'Neil Braswell Jr. Rachel was a homemaker and enjoyed caring for her family. With the help of her husband, they were known for raising the best vegetables in the Rosewood community. Rachel was a member of Pine Forest United Methodist Church and the Friendship Sunday School Class.

Rachel is survived by her daughters, Claudia Grady and husband, Larry, of Rosewood and Joyce Dudley and husband, Lionel, of Princeton; her grandchildren, Neil Dudley and wife, Patricia, of Goldsboro, Marty Dudley and wife, Kim, of Princeton, Joy Dudley of Princeton, Alice Summerlin and husband, Johnny, of Mount Olive, and Angie Boswell and husband, Wayne, of Rosewood; and her great-grandchildren, Lauren Dudley, Kala Dudley, Alexis McKinsey Dudley, Corey Smith, Noah Summerlin, Anna Summerlin, Laura Summerlin, Leah Boswell, Stevie Boswell; and her sister, Jean Langley of Clayton.

She is also survived by her special caregivers, Gayle Gwaltney, Sandra Young and Laura Maryon.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Mittie Brock, Julia Fail, Dot Carraway, Mary Alice Smith, Marcie Guill and Sallie Hollowell; and her brothers, Walton Sutton, Alton Sutton, Bernice Sutton, David A. Sutton and Claxton Sutton.

Flowers are welcome, or memorials may be made to Pine Forest United Methodist Church, 867 S Highway 581, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534 or to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 2402 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the home of Larry and Claudia Grady, 476 Rosewood Road, Goldsboro.
