BETTY B. DELUCA

DUDLEY -- Betty Britt DeLuca, known to many as "Sis Britt," died Friday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home with the Rev. Frank Turner and the Rev. Carlisle Franks officiating. Interment will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 7 until 9 p.m. and at the residence at other times.

Mrs. DeLuca, 73, of 3290 U.S. Hwy. 117 Alt., was a retired Wayne County school teacher, having taught at Brogden Junior High School for all of her 30-year teaching career, of which 21 years were with seventh graders with the remaining years in special education. She was a member of the Mount Olive Business and Professional Women's Group, the Dudley chapter of the Red Hat Society, the American Business Women's Association in Goldsboro, and Delta Kappa Gamma teacher's sorority.

A native of the Garner's Chapel community in Duplin County, she was a life-long member of the Garner's Chapel Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Cecil Savage of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Sandy DeLuca of Raleigh, and Jim and Janna DeLuca of Kernersville; four grandchildren, Tiffany, Jamie, Cole, and Summer DeLuca, all of Kernersville; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Marvin and Shirley Britt of Luray, Va., and Albert O. "Sholl" and Helen Britt of Mount Olive; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Minnie Mae B. and George Kessler of Madison, Ind., and Becky B. and Mendy Mendoza of Guntersville, Ala.; another sister-in-law, Elaine Britt Sutton and husband, Brent, of Pittsboro; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. DeLuca was preceded in death by her first husband and the father of her sons, Robert Rudolph "Bob" DeLuca; her parents, Benjamin O'neal Britt and Sophia Killette Britt; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Tom Britt, and Ralph "Dick" and Annie Lois Britt.
