SYLVIA B. HOWARD

PIKEVILLE -- Mrs. Sylvia Buttry Howard, 67, 1166 Daw Pate Road, died Wednesday evening at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Graveside services will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at Amerah-Garner Cemetery in Newport with the Rev. Bill Haden officiating.

Mrs. Howard was born in Carteret County on Jan. 5, 1942, to the late William Frank Buttry and Cansas Gabrel Butty. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Howard is survived by her husband, James Randall Howard; her children, William Edward Howard of Beaufort, Jacqulin Howard Creech of Pikeville, Robert Roy Morton and wife, Rose, of Newport, Anthony Wayne Morton of Pikeville, DeeDee Whitfield of Pikeville, Shawn McKell Howard of Pikeville, Dawn Howard Walker and husband, Greg, of Pikeville, Jason Randall Howard and wife, Candy, of Pikeville, James Randall Byrce and wife, Laura, of Nashville and Kathy Howard Harris and husband, Bobby, of Princeville; her sister, Francis Fay Medders of Newport; niece, Amber Medders Scriven of Newport; 27 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sons, James Douglas Howard and Eugene Randall Howard, and her granddaughter, Amanda Jean Creech.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
