GRACE ELIZABETH HARDY RAINS

PRINCETON -- Grace Elizabeth Hardy Rains, 80, 204 S. Pine St., died Sunday evening at her home.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Princeton United Methodist Church with the Rev. Michael Coppock and the Rev. Bobby Fletcher officiating. Burial will follow in Princeton Cemetery.

Born June 16, 1928, in Lenoir County to the late Logan Donald and Ida Measley Hardy, she was preceded in death by a son, Thell Hardy Rains; brothers, L.D. Hardy, James Hardy, Ray Hardy and Stephen Parker Hardy; and a sister, Edith Virginia Hardy.

Grace was a longtime member of the Princeton United Methodist Church where she was very active. She enjoyed time spent with family and friends, and especially times at Atlantic Beach. A wonderful cook, she was always eager to share with friends and neighbors and was loved by many for the food she cooked and the help she rendered in her community.

Surviving are her husband of 56 years, Thell Carlyle Rains; son, Donald Butler Rains and wife, Vicky Temple Rains, of Princeton; grandchildren, Logan West Rains and Anna Elizabeth Rains; an uncle, Ralph Measley of LaGrange; sisters-in-law, Leta Hardy, Rhuebelle Hardy and Sally Hardy, all of LaGrange; and special nieces, Mary Lou Young of Carriere, Miss., Mickie Rains Braswell of Goldsboro and Pat Rains Boyette of Wilson.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at Parrish Funeral Home.

Although flowers are appreciated, the family would prefer donations to the Princeton United Methodist Church Kitchen Fund, P.O. Box 116, Princeton, N.C., 27569.
