Michael Richard Mapes, 41, passed away suddenly on Wednesday at his home.
A private graveside service will be held Monday for the family at Willow Dale Cemetery.
Michael was born in Fairfield, Calif., on Oct. 29, 1967, to Julie D. Mapes of Goldsboro and the late Carl Richard Mapes. He was employed with Martin Equipment Co. in Goldsboro. Michael was a member of the APA Pool League.
In addition to his mother, Michael is survived by his daughter, Destiny Lee Mapes; his sister, Carla M. Hudson and husband, Dwight; and his brothers, David B. Mapes and John R. Mapes and wife, Maureen.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Mapes Family, in care of Seymour Funeral Home, 1300 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.
The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 3 to 5 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
