MOUNT OLIVE -- After a brief but joyous life, Matthew Hood returned to be with God on Thursday.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home in Mount Olive. The celebration of Matthew's life will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Mount Olive with burial to follow in Maplewood Cemetery.
He leaves behind his parents, Brent and Elizabeth Hood, and a brother, Parker Hood, of Mount Olive.
Also surviving are paternal grandparents, Ted and Doris Hood of Grantham; maternal grandmother, Alice Brock of Mount Olive; paternal great-grandparents Horace and Edna Hood and Lois Williams, all of Grantham; aunts and uncles, Kent and Heather Hood of Cape Carteret and Lee and Sherry Garner of Snow Hill; cousins, Caitlin Hood, Zachary and Courtney Strickland, and Brock and AJ Garner.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Vaden Brock; an aunt, Janice Brock; and paternal great-grandfather, Robert Williams.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Edgewood Community Developmental School of Goldsboro.
