SNOW HILL -- Vera Edmundson Jones, 93, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday at Lenoir Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Turlington officiating.

Interment will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Edmundson-Smith Family Cemetery.

Vera was born in Greene County on Aug. 13, 1915, to the late Luby Edmundson and Sallie Smith Edmundson. She was married to the late Albert Jones. Vera was a farmer's wife and caring for her family is what she did best. She was affectionally known by her family and friends as "Granny." Vera was a member of Antioch Free Will Baptist Church.

Treasured memories remain with her children, Sarah Alexander and husband, Ronald, of Suffolk, Va., Katie Head and husband, Tommy, of Snow Hill, and Lee Jones and wife, Linda, of Chesapeake, Va.; her daughter-in-law, Janet Jones of Suffolk, Va.; her grandchildren, Ronald Alexander Jr., Gary Alexander, Rhonda Gardner, Regina DeBusk, Roy Alexander, Ricky Alexander, Stephanie Phelps, Jennifer Moore, Dolores Potter, J.T. Lane, Theresa Speedy, Lynn Harrison, and Eric Jones; 23 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by her sisters, Sally Ferrell of Lucama and Ethel Grandstaff of Fork Union, Va.; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her children, Albertina Jones, Ethel Lane and Robert Jones; her brothers, Lester, Luby, Aaron and George Edmundson; and her sister, Selah Ann Stephens.

The family will receive friends Tuesday following the service at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Katie and Tommy Head, 2286 Gurganus Road, Snow Hill.
