Died Feb. 11, 2009

James (Shine) Wooten, 71, 805 Marigold St., died Wednesday evening at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at New Stoney Hill Holy Church with Elder H.E. McNair officiating. Burial will follow in Snead Family Cemetery in Bentonville.

He is survived by his widow, Dorothy Jean Wooten of the home; two daughters, Toni Briswald of LaGrange and Sandra (Dean) Thomas of Goldsboro; five stepsons, Elder Derrick (Nikita) Oates, a devoted employee of McIntyre Funeral Home and the Pastor Johnson Chapel United Holy Church of Goldsboro, Leander Oates Jr. of the home, Albert (Gwen) Oates of Kinston, Gregory (Audrey) Oates of Columbia, S.C., and Charles Oates of Goldsboro; one stepdaughter, Pathia J. Oates of Charlotte; one brother, Johnny Wooten of LaGrange; two sisters, Retha Wooten of Snow Hill and Carrie Styles of LaGrange; five aunts, Nannie Best, Shirley Daniels and Gladys Lewis all of Goldsboro, Ester Parks of LaGrange and Georgia Graves of Dudley; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; 17 stepgrandchildren; 17 stepgreat-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

A viewing will be held at McIntyre Funeral Home, 900 S. George St., Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m., and the family will be present to receive friends from 6 to 7.

At other times the family will receive friends at the home where they will also assemble for the funeral processional.
