Died Feb. 2, 2009

William "Bill" Robert Rogers, 52, New Hope Road, died Monday morning at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. with Masonic rites at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home with Dr. Bob Fulkerson and Mr. Rick Pridgen officiating. The family will be receiving friends Wednesday from 2 to 3 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home.

He was born in Georgia to the late Robert B. Rogers and Lucy Anita Ward Horrell. A veteran of the United States Air Force, he was a retired probation and parole officer with the state of North Carolina. Mr. Rogers was also a member of Wayne Masonic Lodge No. 112; past president of the Fraternal Order of Police, Wayne County Lodge No. 62; and a local car club.

Mr. Rogers is survived by two sons, William Jacob Rogers of Goldsboro and Stephen Robert Rogers of Wilmington; his stepfather, Jack E. Horrell; one brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Mary Lu Rogers of Raleigh; one sister and brother-in-law, Karyn and Mike Moore of Goldsboro; four nieces and nephews, Jeremy Moore, Blake Moore, Emily Moore and Julia Rogers; and a special friend, Brenda Taylor.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the North Carolina Masonic Home for Children, 600 College St., Oxford, N.C., 27565 or to the 10th Masonic District Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 113, Goldsboro, N.C., 27533.
