W. DEWITT KING

Died Jan. 30, 2009

FAISON -- W. Dewitt King, 79, of 1248 E. Darden Road, died at Sampson Regional Medical Center Friday.

Funeral services will be held today at 3 p.m. at Piney Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Richard Weeks officiating. Burial will be held Monday at 10 a.m. in the church cemetery.

Born in 1929 in Sampson County, Mr. King was the son of the late Willie Holmes and Ola Brewer King. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, a member of the Piney Grove Baptist Church, former chairman of the Board of Deacons, and Sunday School superintendent. He was a farmer, retired manager of FCX and Bartlett Milling Company in Goldsboro. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to all.

He is survived by two sons, William David and wife, Lynn King, of Faison; Timothy S. King of Clinton; three grandchildren, Justin King, Kristen King and Zachary King; and one great-grandson, Jeremy James Faircloth. He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Ruth Sutton King.

The family will receive friends immediately following the funeral in the church fellowship hall and at other times at the home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gideon's International Sampson County North Camp, P.O. Box 241, Clinton, N.C. 28328, or Piney Grove Baptist Church, 1818 N. McCullen Road, Faison, N.C. 28341.

Services are entrusted to Royal-Hall Funeral Home.
