Ms. Sallye Beatrice Forte, 67, lovingly known by her family and friends as "Sallye," 4611 U.S. Highway 117 N., Pikeville, departed this life in the early hours of Sunday at her residence.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. at White Oak Grove Free Will Baptist Church, 2261 Big Daddy's Road, Pikeville, with Elder George E. Wiggins officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park Cemetery, 2925 U.S. 117 Highway S., Goldsboro. A viewing will be held Friday at Hamilton Funeral Chapel, 423 S. James St., Goldsboro, from 1 to 7 p.m. A wake will be conducted on Friday at Hamilton Funeral Chapel from 6 to 7 p.m. with the family present to receive other family members and friends.

Sallye was born in Wayne County on Feb. 7, 1941, to Mrs. Beatrice Hagans Forte and the late Mr. Jefferson Forte.

She attended Pikeville Training School and graduated from Norwayne High School in the class of 1959. After graduation, she worked at Sylvania in Smithfield, Alton's Barbecue in Goldsboro, and presently, Sallye was employed with Wayne County Public Schools, working at Norwayne for over 30 years.

Left to cherish her memories are her mother, Mrs. Beatrice H. Forte of the home; her brother, Norwood Forte of the home; one aunt, Mrs. Lillian Brown of Goldsboro; two nieces, Francine and Herlene Jones, both of Fremont; one nephew, Morris "Ted" Reid of Raleigh: one great-niece, Michelle Reid of Greensboro; two great-nephews, Danny Wells of Pikeville and Brian Reid of Raleigh; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

At other times, the family will receive friends at the residence of Ms. Sallye Beatrice Forte, 4611 U.S. Highway 117 N., Pikeville, N.C., 27863.
