PIKEVILLE -- William Douglas "James" Smith, 64, 6016 Wayne Memorial Drive, died Saturday evening at his home.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Park East Church of God with pastor Wesley Jarman and pastor Allen Stocks officiating. Burial will follow in Patetown Cemetery.

A native of Greene County, he was the son of James Parker and Druella Reeves Smith of Goldsboro. James was a carpenter, a member of Park East Church of God, and had served his country in the United States Army.

James is survived by his wife, Edith Herring Smith; daughters, Teresa Combs and husband, Joe, of Goldsboro, Tammy Mooring and husband, Carl, of Pikeville, and Pam Walker and husband, Gene, of LaGrange; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Flowers are welcome, or memorials may be made to Park East Church of God, 3913 McLain St., Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at his residence.
