RUSSELL RAY HERRING

Russell "Rusty" Ray Herring, 38, of 205 Hunters Creek Drive, died Thursday at his home.

Funeral services will be Monday at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with the Rev. Dub Karriker officiating. Interment will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Westview Cemetery in Kinston with the Rev. Wesley Jarman officiating.

Rusty was born in Spartanburg, S.C. on Sept. 22, 1970. He was currently working as a police officer with the town of Fremont.

Rusty is survived by his mother, Brenda Grady Smith of Goldsboro; his father, Warren Dortch Herring Sr. and wife, Linda, of Youngsville; his son, Noah Russell Boyd Herring of Goldsboro; his sisters, Teresa Strother of Black Creek and Candace Hatch and husband, Clifford, of LaGrange; his brothers, Rocky Herring and wife, Jennifer, of Gibsonville and Rick Herring of Youngsville; his maternal grandmother, Doris B. Evans of Goldsboro; his paternal grandmother, Catharine I. Herring of Greenville; his fiancée, Crystal Rose of Goldsboro; and five nieces and nephews. He is also survived by special friends, Sgt. Nance and his family and Mr. Eddie Robinson. Rusty was preceded in death by Crissy.

The family will receive friends Monday following the service and other times at 205 Hunters Creek Drive, Goldsboro.
