RONNIE C. BYRD

MOUNT OLIVE -- Ronnie Clay Byrd, 52, of 2875 Summerlin's Crossroads Road, died at home in the early morning hours of Friday, Jan. 23.

A service of remembrance will be held on Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Bear Marsh Baptist Church with the Revs. Mike Whitesides and Millard Bounds officiating. Following the service, there will be a time of visitation. Friends are welcome to call at the home of Frances B. "Mrs. Tinker" Best on Crest Drive in Mount Olive.

Ronnie was a graduate of North Duplin High School, where he was a standout football player. His life's work had been in the carpentry, roofing, and construction business.

Ronnie is survived by a very devoted friend of many years, Kathy Fussell of Warsaw, along with her family; an aunt, Frances Byrd Best of Mount Olive; an uncle and aunt, Dr. J. William "Bill" Byrd and Marcie Byrd of Mount Olive; and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert L. and Velma H. Byrd; two brothers, Stanley Byrd and Bobby Byrd; his grandparents, to include his maternal grandmother, Nora King Jones with whom he lived until her death.

Gifts to honor Ronnie's life may be made to Bear Marsh Baptist Church, 1649 Beautancus Road, Mount Olive, N.C. 28365, or to the charity of one's choice.

Arrangements are with Tyndall in Mount Olive.
