MAMIE B. SWINDELL
Died Jan. 20, 2009
KINSTON -- Mamie Bishop Swindell, 89, of Kinston, passed away Tuesday.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 6:30 p.m. at Howard-Carter Funeral Home with the Rev. Greg Kincaid officiating. Visitation will follow the funeral and the family will receive friends at other times at the home, 600 Abbott St., Kinston. Burial will be held Saturday at Pinelawn Memorial Park.
She was a loving aunt, who loved spending time with her family and friends and going to Bojangles. She also enjoyed gardening.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elwood Swindell, her parents, Isaac Thomas Bishop Jr. and Louella Whaley, three brothers and one great-niece.
Her survivors include her two nieces, Vencie Jackson and husband, Thomas, of Kinston, and Gwen Bishop of Mount Olive; great-nieces Cheryl Byrum and Celia Williams; and great-nephews Dana Jackson, Nicky Jackson, Dondi Jackson, Shannon Jackson and Shawn Jackson.
Arrangements are being handled by Howard-Carter Funeral Home.
