Died Jan. 16, 2009

KINSTON -- Mrs. Hattie Shaw, 92, 108 Pierce Road, Kinston, died Friday at Kinston Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral services for Mrs. Shaw will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Luke Free Will Baptist Church, 306 W. King St., LaGrange, with Dr. W.M. Bessent officiating. Burial will follow at Parrot Cemetery, Kinston.

Mrs. Shaw was born a native of Lenoir County where she attended public schools. She was a very active and postive resident in her community and a member of the Boundary Street Circle Club. Mrs. Shaw was a member of St. Luke Free Will Baptist Church where she served faithfully as a mother on the Mother Board, Floral Club, and the Women's Department.

She is survived by two daughters, Mary Thelma Clark of LaGrange, and Evelyn Shaw Wilson and husband, Melvin, of Rocky Mount; five sons, William Shaw Jr. of Houston, Texas, Frankie C. Shaw Sr. of Youngsville, Howard Melvin Shaw and wife, Connie, of Prospect, Tenn., Alton Ray Shaw and wife, Kannon, of Austin, Texas, and Ronnie Shaw and wife, Ami, of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.; one aunt, Louise Rouse Pridgen of LaGrange; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Viewing and visitation for Mrs. Shaw will be held Friday from 2 to 7 p.m. at St. Luke Free Will Baptist Church, LaGrange.

Arrangements are being handled by Mitchell's Funeral Home, 1000 Howell St., Greenville.
