Shirley Gardner, 68, 713 Chestnut Circle, succumbed to the silent halls of death on Friday at Britthaven Nursing Center.
Her life will be remembered and celebrated Thursday at 2 p.m. at St. Mark Church of Christ with bishop Alton Smith officiating. Her mortal remains will be coached to Elmwood Cemetery in an authentic 1892 Cunningham horse drawn hearse.
She leaves a wealth of precious and sacred memories to her children, Garry Gardner of Raleigh, Debbie (Will) Hines, of Stafford, Va. and Kelvin Gardner of Goldsboro; her siblings, Marvin Gardner, Willie (Dot) Gardner, of Brooklyn, N.Y., Bert Hazel (James) Burgess, of Elm City, Mandy Delois (Edward) Peebles, of Mount Vernon, N.Y., Patricia Mitchell of Fredericksburg, Va., Utha Denise Battle of Charlotte; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Wednesday with the family present to receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. at McIntyre Funeral Home Ministries, Goldsboro.
The family will receive friends at other times at the residence where they will also assemble in preparation for the funeral procession.
