PRINCETON -- Jackie Cleveland Lassiter, 53, passed away Wednesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 6 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with the Rev. Lewis Forsythe, the Rev. Andy Stovall and the Rev. Lewis Baker officiating. Interment will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Lassiter Cemetery near the family home.

Jackie was born in Wayne County on Nov. 13, 1955, to Elsie Rose Lassiter of Princeton and the late Nathan Lassiter Jr. He was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Paul Lassiter.

Jackie worked for 22 years with Jackson Builders, currently as a superintendant. He enjoyed carpentry, gardening and NASCAR races. Jackie enjoyed telling a joke and having the last laugh.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his sons, Justin Lassiter and wife, Kristin, of Snow Hill and Jarrett B. Lassiter and fiancée, Najshula Hall, of Clinton; his brother, Larry Lassiter and wife, Gloria, of Rosewood; and three grandchildren, Hunter, Wyatt and Graham.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Gary M. Lassiter, and his sister, Sheila Kay Walker.

The family will receive friends Saturday following the service at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the home of his mother, 512 Lassiter Road, Princeton.
