LAGRANGE -- The Rev. Clyde McGee Creech, 73, 695 LaGrange Road, died Monday.

A service of remembrance will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Bethel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jim Williams, the Rev. Jerry Mitchell and the Rev. Reynolds Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Mewborn Family Cemetery.

The Rev. Creech was born Nov. 30, 1935, in Greene County to the late John and Clyde Worrell Creech.

He graduated from Duke University with a Masters Of Divinity and served United Methodist Churches in Wayne, Johnston and Harnett counties, with 33 years of that service being at Garris Chapel United Methodist Church. McGee retired as assistant administrator of Cherry Hospital following 28 years of service. He was an active member of Bethel United Methodist Church, where he has served as president of the Sunday School, Men's Club and Building Committee. McGee was an avid antique car enthusiast.

The Rev. Creech was preceded in death by a son, Clyde McGee Creech Jr., and is survived by his wife of 52 years, Leatrice Smith Creech; daughter Lisa Creech Price and special friend Steve Jones and his son, Nick, of Goldsboro; three grandchildren, Alyssa Price, Clyde Root and Christi Newcomb and husband, Joe; three great-grandchildren, Regan, Josh and Katie Newcomb; and a special nurse's aide, April Hobbs.

The family will receive friends at the home, 695 LaGrange Road.

For those wishing to honor the Rev. Creech's life, a register will be available until 8 tonight at Rouse Funeral Home.
