MOUNT OLIVE -- John Ellis Barfield Sr., 76, 198 Lee's Country Club Road, died Saturday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Celebration of life services will be held Wednesday at noon at Goldsboro-Raleigh Assembly with Dr. L.D. Melvin officiating. Burial will follow in Carver Cemetery.
He was the son of the late Walter Sr. and Katie Kornegay Barfield and the husband of the late Agnes Ricks Barfield.
He is survived by three sons, John E. (Betty) Barfield Jr. of Goldsboro, Martez (Lotrina) Barfield of Wilson and Michael (Chetoca) Barfield of Raleigh; three brothers, Joseph (Hedwig) Barfield of Fayetteville, Alton (Evelyn) Barfield Sr. of Raleigh and Thomas (Everlena) Barfield Sr. of Dudley; one sister, Lela (Joe) King of Faison; and five grandchildren.
A viewing will be held today from 3 to 5 at Garris Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 7 at St. Luke Disciple Church of Christ, Mount Olive.
